Abstract

This article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the features of business etiquette in Russian linguistic culture. The paper examines the linguocultural aspects of business communication, including verbal and non-verbal norms, rules of speech etiquette, forms of address, greetings, farewells, as well as the specifics of conducting negotiations, business correspondence, and presentations in the Russian context. Special attention is paid to the influence of historical, social, and cultural factors on the formation of Russian business etiquette: from the Soviet period with its emphasis on collectivism, paternalism, and hierarchy to modern realities of globalization and integration of international standards. The key characteristics of Russian business communication are analyzed: respect for status and position, the use of patronymics, the combination of formality with personal relationships (building trust through “connections”), directness in expressing thoughts, punctuality as a value, a conservative dress code, and features of non-verbal behavior (firm handshake, direct eye contact, restrained facial expressions). The differences between Russian business etiquette and Western (Anglo-American) models are revealed, where greater emotional restraint, rationality, and preservation of personal boundaries are emphasized.
