DETERMINATION OF TENSILE STRAIN OF TEXTILE YARNS USING A WEBCAM: ANALYSIS OF THE METHOD AND DEVICE CONCEPT

Main Article Content

Abstract

This article analyzes traditional and modern approaches to assessing the tensile strain of textile yarns. Various mechanical stresses on yarns and fibers during production and use result in semi-periodic, single-periodic, and multi-periodic strains. Accurate and rapid recording of strain in practical testing, particularly measuring changes at the initial moments of load application, is essential for ensuring product quality. Therefore, the capabilities of relaxometric devices and their time limitations are examined, and the concept of an optical measuring device based on a “webcam + computer program” for real-time strain recording is described. The proposed approach enables digital recording of yarn length changes under load, reducing human error, and automatically generating results in tabular/graphical form.
