Leontiev’s activity theory, analyzing the theoretical postulates of cognitive psychology, and also relying on Piaget’s theory of child development, as well as examples from specific historical events of the last century, the possibility of improving the quality of content and methods of teaching non-native languages (English and Russian) in schools and universities of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan is theoretically substantiated.
