Abstract
The article examines the comparative approach to the representation of reality in Russian and Uzbek short stories. Based on the works of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and Ulmas Rakhimbekovich Umarbekov, the study analyzes artistic methods of depicting reality and identifies both universal and national features of realism. Special attention is paid to psychological depth, artistic detail, social issues and the author’s position. The article concludes that reality is reflected differently in each literary tradition, while maintaining a common focus on human and social problems.
