THE FUNCTIONAL ROLE OF THE ENGLISH MEME-LEXICON FORMED IN THE INTERNET CULTURE IN THE SPEECH OF UZBEK YOUTH

Abstract

In this scientific article, the functional role of the English meme-lexicon formed in the context of the Internet culture in the speech of Uzbek youth is analyzed linguistically, pragmatically, and sociolinguistically. In the research, the use of English meme units in youth discourse for communicative purposes, their emotional-expressive possibilities, semantic transformation, and their role in the formation of social identity is highlighted. Also, the importance of meme-lexicon in ensuring language economy, discursive compactness and modern methodology is justified. The results of the research show that the English meme-lexicon serves not only as a communicative tool, but also as a cultural code and social marker in the speech of Uzbek youth.
